Butch Thunderhawk “Mahto Ohitika”

Butch Thunderhawk “Mahto Ohitika” started playing ball in his very early years in Little League baseball in 1955- 56 in Los Angeles, CA, then began playing baseball. He had a love for the sport so he continued on to play fast pitch in 1966 for many year then began playing slow pitch in the late 90s. You can still find Butch playing the sport he loves with his T-HAWKS team wearing his #10. His smile is as big as swing and if you have a minute or two he can tell you some great stories of back in the day when he played with his brothers and nephews on the T-HAWKS team. When he’s not on the field or watching the Red Sox you can probably find him at the Thunderdome at UTTC keeping score during basketball games while cheering on his favorite basketball team, UTTC Thunder. You can also find Butch creating beautiful pieces of art as he is a well-known & accomplished artist, especially for his ledger art drawings. Butch has taught his amazing art techniques and passed it down to many students at UTTC for 46 years and is still teaching there!

Rogene Seaboy-Dogskin “Yuoicihan Hdinazin Win”

Rogene Seaboy-Dogskin “Yuoicihan Hdinazin Win” started playing softball with her younger sisters and brother at a very young age. Her dad & older brother would make her throw a ball through a hanging swing tire for practice while it was moving. She went on to be an awesome fast pitch pitcher, catcher, and shortstop. She also played slow pitch softball for most of her years playing. She loved the sport and traveled to countless tournaments and played until her knees wouldn’t let her play anymore. Rogene played with the first women’s Native fast pitch team to make it to the Nationals. The team was from Sisseton, SD and they were called the Mayasan Women’s Fast Pitch team. When she moved to Cannonball at a young age she played with the Cannonball Lady Spoilers and made many softball sisters she loved very much. When she couldn’t play anymore she became her daughter’s and son’s biggest fan and even won a “Best Bleacher Butt” award for being the biggest fan and never missing games to cheer them on.

Brent Kary “Mahto Numpa”

Brent Kary “Mahto Numpa” graduated from the University of Mary in 1997 and the University of North Dakota with his Juris Doctorate in 2008 and was a member of the ND Bar Association. Brent began playing recreational softball during college and found a passion in it. Brent played on a variety of teams, including Capso, the Blazers, Veracity Motors (where he contributed to a 2007 State Men’s Masters 35 Division III Slowpitch Championship), K&L (where he contributed to another State Championship in 2008), Capital City Construction, Dustex, Elgin-New Leipzig Softball, Thunder, and Buehler-Larson Funeral Home. As frustrating as it was, he also enjoyed teaching and coaching his women cousins and friends on their many different teams throughout the years. Brent was an avid softball fan and never missed the United Tribes or the McQuades softball tournaments. He believed in teasing and having fun on the field and that if you weren’t having fun playing softball, you weren’t playing it right.
